Weekend Trip: Trøndelag’s Toscana – Inderøy, The Golden Route
Life along the Golden Route (Den Gyldne Omvei)
It is said that a trip along the Golden Route, on the Inderøy peninsula in Innherred, may take anything from 20 minutes to an entire lifetime. Which category you will end up in, is as yet unknown. The experiences you will have here are at the very least guaranteed to make you want to come back.
Inderøy is a place where you wind down. Find somewhere to stay and use it as your base for outings and visits, to everything that Inderøy has to offer.
The Inderøy landscape is great for cycling, so if you have the chance of bringing your bike along, we recommend you to do so. The roads in Inderøy lead through a magnificent cultural landscape, and sights will turn up all the time, from old churches to impressive farms, or just the view of the Trondheimsfjord itself.
Straumen town centre is compact and intimate with its many small wooden buildings and narrow streets. Here you will find grocer’s shops, galleries and small boutiques and eating places.
If the weather is fine, we recommend a trip to the bathing spot at Sundsand, just outside Straumen town centre. Here you will find spacious grassy meadows and a number of beach volley ball courts.

Overnight accommodation on the Golden Route
There are a number of overnight accommodations to choose from in Inderøy. Husfrua and Strømnes offer cosy accommodations centrally situated in Inderøy. Jægtvolden Fjordhotell is a bigger hotel down by the fjord. If you are looking for distinctive accommodations, we recommend a stay at Spettespiret on Letnes Gård Farm, where you can sleep in a tree house at the top of a tree.
A short drive from the Golden Route we find Koa Camping, a wonderful camp site providing a good alternative to hotel accommodation.
