Travel by boat in Trøndelag
The coastal areas of Trøndelag are easy to reach by boat. When travelling along the coast of Trøndelag you can take advantage of ferries and fast passenger boats and the Hurtigrute ships.
Hurtigruten can take you between Trondheim and Rørvik, a 9-hour voyage, on it`s way between Kirkenes and Bergen.
Kystekspressen – The Coastal Express (currently in norwegian only) is an express ferry service between Trondheim and Kristiansund, via the Fosen peninsula and the beautiful islands of Hitra and Frøya.
FosenNamsos Sjø runs ferry and express services along the Namdal coastline, to Fosen and the Hitra/Frøya area.
Tide operates car ferries in both Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag, the northern and southern part of the region.
Fjord1 operates ferries along the E39 from Stavanger to Trondheim.

In many places along the coast you can spend the night in pleasant and comfortable fisherman’s cottages and boathouses of a high standard. If you don’t have your own boat there are plenty of outlets that hire out boats, also on a weekly basis.
