The Golden Route, Inderøy

The Golden Route runs through Inderøy in Innherred, and holds a number of excellent farm sales, restaurants and activity providers.

Detour to great adventures

At Innherred, on the road between Verdal and Steinkjer, you have the option of driving straight ahead on the E6, or turning off onto the Golden Route (Den Gyldne Omvei) at Inderøy. The detour takes longer, of course, but the chances are that what you experience along the way there will leave you with no regrets.

Inderøy can boast of one of the country’s most magnificent cultural landscapes, which together with the sea and the special light conditions in Inderøy, have inspired pictorial artists and authors for hundreds of years.

The Golden Detour is a fascinating journey, full of providers offering high quality self-made products in the fields of art, handicrafts and local fare.

Culinary adventures on the Golden Route

Berg Gård farm is situated on a hill in Inderøy’s cultural landscape and includes, amongst other things, an old-fashioned country shop. The farm also includes a butcher’s shop, and at the Slakteriloftet eatery, you can enjoy food that is prepared on the farm.

Gangstad Gårdsysteri cheese factory makes award-winning cheeses and ice cream from the farm’s own fresh cow’s milk. There is a farm shop on the farm, and in summer you can enjoy a cup of coffee and home-made ice cream in the courtyard or in the annex.

Rødbrygga is an eating place located in a converted quayside building dating back to 1868. Here you can enjoy an international menu accompanied by the music of the tidal current right outside the windows.

The Gulburet is a farm shop with an exciting assortment of farm produce, local history and handicrafts. The cultural monuments on the farm and the local chefs’ recipes make for pleasant experiences inspired by the old and the new.

Husfrua Gårdshotell (farm hotel) is situated by a monument commemorating Aasmund Olavsson Vinje, and is a charming wooden terraced house of the “Trønderlån” type which was relocated to the farm in 2008. At Husfrua, you can eat well, enjoy the view, get up close to the animals on the farm and let the children play.

Jægtvolden Fjord Hotel is beautifully situated in delightful natural surroundings. There is a wealth of opportunity for activities in the near vicinity, including everything from nature experiences to fantastic culinary adventures.

Øynaparken is a distinctive eating place overlooking Inderøy. Here you can enjoy a local meal together with a panoramic view of the Trondheimsfjord. Activities for young and old, such as football golf, minigolf and frisbee golf. Sale of farm fare in addition to the chef’s temptations.

Strømnes overnatting & servering (accommodation and meals) is a place from a different time, and a different pace of life. It is charming, a little out of shape and completely unhip. Strømnes is beautifully situated with a delightful view of the Trondheimsfjord. Good fishing and excellent walking terrain in all directions.

Other adventures on the Golden Route

Art and handicrafts are an important part of the experience on the Golden Detour. When there, you should be sure to visit the Gulburet farm shop, Høie Glass and Metal, Muustrøparken with its sculptures, Nils Aas Artist’s Studio, Svingen Ceramics and Therese Kvam’s weaving workshop.

There are also plenty of exciting activities for the active traveller, such as fjord fishing which may be done, for instance, from Skarnsundet Fjordsenter, and ball games at Øynaparken.

Among available sights we might mention the old churches of Gamle Sakshaug and Hustad.
