Summer

In the Trøndelag summer, hoards of festival goers abound, the sea warms up and everyone seems to be in a good mood.

Beach life

Probably the thing we most associate with the summer is swimming and sunbathing. There are good bathing sites both along the coast and in several small lakes, and in some places you can hire a kayak to go exploring.

Festivals

The summer is also the high season for festivals.  Most people are aware of the existence of rock, pop and other music festivals, but did you know that in Trøndelag there are things like fishing festivals? There you can compete in fishing competitions, meet other enthusiasts and enjoy a refreshing drink in the pleasant evenings.

Out in the countryside

Overcoming your fears gives you a fantastic sense of achievement. Doing it in a group of people gives you an even bigger kick. «Vengavollspranget», the leap across the River Driva in Oppdal, will definitely give you an adrenaline rush. Attached to a wire, you slide 150 metres from one side of the river to the other. The water is 30 metres below you, but don’t lose your nerve: you have to come back the same way.

Oppdal is also home to musk oxen, and there are daily guided walks to see them.

In Vanvikan you can have a go at rock climbing, up Scandinavia’s longest Via Ferrata, Munkstigen. Battling your way up the rock face before finally reaching the top, from where you can look out over Trondheim and Frosta, is an exhilarating adventure that you just have to try.
