More information about Trøndelag
Trøndelag is famous for many things, but our countryside and all of the wonderful cultural events that we organise are probably what we are most proud of.
With nine national park areas, a beautiful coastline and many other great outdoor areas, the countryside plays a central role in life in Trøndelag. Skiers, hikers, hunters and anglers all feel a twinge of excitement in their bodies as the season approaches, and they all have plenty of options to choose from.
DIVERSE CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
There are many things you can say about the people of Trøndelag, but their urge to create and express themselves has always one of their characteristics. That is something that we and all of our guests benefit from, through festivals in a variety of genres, exhibitions, local drama clubs and major theatres featuring well-known and lesser-known faces.
A SOPHISTICATED CITY
Trondheim is the main hub of the region. It is where you will find the best shopping, cafés, cosy streets with an intimate atmosphere, culture and sporting events. Several of the other towns, such as Røros, Stjørdal, Steinkjer and Verdal also offer lots of interesting activities and services.
It is hard to travel through Trøndelag without stumbling upon places with strong historic roots, many of which are keen to tell their stories. Battlefields, old churches and castles, rock carvings and burial mounds all witness the presence of earlier inhabitants, dating back to the Viking era and beyond.
